Originally named SocAtt metal-to-metal system (now named TS System), it remains the most popular choice for attaching discs to power tools. 1979: Quick Change Non-Woven Discs The Standard Abrasives line of quick change discs expanded to include non-woven abrasives. 1983: Manufacturing Expansion A manufacturing facility in Brookville, Ohio was acquired to expand the Standard Abrasives brand of coated abrasive specialties. 1994: Non-Woven Expansion An environmentally responsible non-woven manufacturing facility was built in California in order to manufacture the highest quality products. 1997: Room to Grow More space was needed for the growing family of Standard Abrasives products and new facilities were added in Simi Valley, California. 1998: ISO 9001 Certification The manufacturing facility in Oak Hills, California became ISO 9001 Certified. 1999: New and Advanced Convolute Wheels The new Standard Abrasives Convolute Wheel is introduced. 2000: Manufacturing Growth The ISO 9001 certified facility in Oak Hills, California doubles its size and manufacturing capacity. 2003: Flap Brush Manufacturing A full line of mandrel-mounted and large flap brushes are introduced under the Standard Abrasives brand. 2008: Cut-Off Wheels The Standard Abrasives line is expanded to include Cut-Off Wheels. 2009: 50th Anniversary The Standard Abrasives brand turns 50 and looks forward to a bright future of changing the way industry works, far into the next century.
