The growing business quickly expanded to supplying larger customers such as IBM. In the late 1950s, a line of intermediate sized timing motors was introduced and during the next 20 years they became established as a premier supplier of permanent magnet synchronous and stepper motors. In 1984, Hurst became a division of the Emerson Motor Technologies and grew into a leading producer of sub-fractional motors. Now as a strategic component of Emerson Motor Technologies based in St. Louis, Missouri, Hursts product development teams have access to all technology support functions of a world leading motor company.
