Lockheed Martin Canada is a subsidiary, headquartered in Ottawa, employing nearly 500 people, with a strong history of innovative technology and support to Canadian Forces. The Canadian Forces, long reliant on the C-130 for their tactical airlift needs have recently purchased 17 C-130J aircraft to modernize their airlift capability and to support Canadas worldwide commitments to NATO, peacekeeping and to humanitarian support and assistance. In order to continue their valued support to NATO and to North American Air Defense, Canada has invested as an international partner in the development of the F-35, a fifth-generation fighter aircraft with extraordinary capabilities for defense and the maintenance of air sovereignty. While the government evaluates the F-35 as a candidate to modernize their combat forces, Canadian industry partners are actively engaged as best value suppliers of important technology and major components to the F-35. Under the Combat System Engineering Support contract, Lockheed Martin Canada assists Canadas Navy in maintaining and improving each of the twelve HALIFAX Class and four IROQUOIS Class combat systems, including their associated shore maintenance and training facilities. Lockheed Martin Canada staffs and operates the software support facilities in Halifax and Esquimalt, providing software and systems support, and technical assistance such as installation and troubleshooting. For the future, the Lockheed Martin team offers a fully modernized combat management system, continued service support for modernized and legacy ships and end-to-end performance responsibility to support the upgrade of the Halifax Class Modernization project. Taking into account our historic relationships with the Canadian forces and future plans and commitments, Lockheed Martin will have over a century of commitment to Canada and the development of a North American defense industrial base. Beyond our defense partnerships, Lockheed Martin Corporation stands ready to continue and grow our support to Canadas Census, health care management, information technology, as well as infrastructure and border security to ensure the safe, secure and efficient transit of people, goods and services between Canada and the US. To this end, Lockheed Martin Corporation has been an active participant supporting improvements to security and prosperity through the North American Competitiveness Council.
