Over the years other products were added and the company became a worldwide supplier of membrane, solids handling, high pressure, and marine pumps. Typical applications are the hydraulic transfer of solids over long distances, the feeding of filter-presses, dryers, and incinerators, and the transfer of shear sensitive, abrasive and corrosive fluids, the transfer of viscous foods, beverage concentrates and other shear sensitive media. Marketing and Service Abel products are sold and marketed by directly employed and trained Abel Sales and Service Engineers located in various areas. Abel Companies, Abel Representatives and Distributors provide customer support in most industrialized countries. Quality Management Program The DIN EN ISO 9001 Quality Mangement Standard has been adopted by Abel in 1991. To maintain the ISO certification Abel is audited annually. QM-Certifikat. The Quality Mangagement Standard DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 was renewed in 12/2005 for another three year period by the independent classification agency "Germanischer Lloyd". Production Facilities The Büchen Plant covers approximately 30.000 m², with a factory area of about 8.000 m², and sales and administrative offices of 4.000 m² producing 1.000 pumps per year. A modern fully integrated computer system consisting of a central Unix server, terminals, personal computers, and 2D/3D CAD workstations is being utilized to support all business functions from proposals, order entry, production planning, purchasing, invoicing, and controlling to computer aided design. All products are individually tested on production test facilities. Research and development tests are performed on separate test stands. Nondestructive and destructive material testing are being performed regularly. The factory has been continuously modernized and includes vertical and horizontal DNC machining centers, DNC lathes, conventional machines, cylindrical surface grinders, gear cutters, as well as degreasing, blasting, cleaning and painting
