This has developed into a comprehe......Our company, "SPN Schwaben Prozision Fritz Hopf GmbH", is a reliable, innovative partner for solving drive problems.We started making gears and related components more than 85 years ago. This has developed into a comprehensive programme of gearboxes, drive systems, and drive technology components. In two works, both in Nordlingen, with a total production area of 13,500 m2, more than 300 employees manufacture SPN products. history On 1st. October 1919, Ernst Pilz and Paul Hayard founded the company Pilz & Hayard in Glashütte, near Dresden. The company produced gears, mechanisms and escapments for the clock industry. In 1935, Fritz Hopf took a share in Pilz & Hayard, which became a limited partnership in 1936. At the end of the war, in 1945, following the bomber raid on Dresden and Russian commandeering, nothing was left. In October 1945, Fritz Hopf moved to Nordlingen in Swabia and started to rebuild his company with employees from Glashütte in rented premises in a glue works. At first, the company concentrated on the manufacture of clockmakers tools and chain-wound wall clocks. Little by little, old contacts were re-established, and the production of gearwheels, and other transmission components was restarted. Following a successful debut as a manufacturer of worm-gear units, a new office building was opened in 1955. By 1962, 25,000 gearboxes had been produced.In 1969, a substantial extension was built to accommodate the companys rapid development as a manufacturer of drive technology and gearboxes. By May 1976, over 250,000 gearboxes had left the works in Nordlingen. Today, Schwaben Prozision enjoys a reputation as a manufacturer of drive elements to the highest degree of precision and high-accuracy, zero-backlash gearboxes (in the meantime, more than 1 million) for plant and machinery. The new works we opened in 1994 is currently being extended. All this to enable the manufacture of our products using the latest technology and in the highest quality – simply, perfection in drive technology.
