This one-man company owned by Mr. Alfred Raith was specialised in cutting tools. • The Döring brothers kept the companys name and started selling saw machines and saw blades. • In the 70s ALFRED RAITH became more and more a trading company and introduced a lot of innovative products to the German market. • Todays business started in 1978 by taking over the sales of GREENLEE punch & die sets as agent for Germany from the company Ackermann/Hanau. • The first core drilling systems for steel were introduced from the USA to the German market in 1979 by ALFRED RAITH. • ALFRED RAITHs first self-production of punches & dies for switchboard manufacturers and panel builders started beginning of the 80s at Hainburg (near the City of Frankfurt). • With foundation of the MEHRING AG in Rudolfstetten (Switzerland) in 1982 ALFRED RAITH started to expand its business also abroad. That time a strong partnership between ALFRED RAITH and RITTAL, one of the world market leaders in switchboard cases began. • In 1982 the first self-produced ALFRA core drilling machine was launched with patented safety mechanism for overhead operation. • In 1983 ALFRA core drilling machines obtained an award for good industrial design "IF83" at the Hanover Industry Fair. • The ALFRA product range was exceeded in 1985 by starting a co-operation with BERGER Meßtechnik GmbH at Wuppertal/Germany who used to design and construct the Combi and Compact-Combi handhydraulic punchers as well as the larger ALFRA Press punching machines before this business was transferred to ALFRAs company in Hainburg in 2001. • In these years ALFRED RAITH reinforced its efforts in foreign countries: ALFRA UK (Sheffield, Great Britain) and ALFRA SA (Potchefstrom, South Africa) were founded. In many Asian countries good and strong partners for the distribution of ALFRA products were found. • In 1991 - two years after the fall of the wall - a supplier for busbar machines in the area of former East-Berlin was found. One year later ALFRED RAITH founded its own production company AKM GmbH located at Berlin-Teltow, where busbar machining units, hydraulic pumps and hydraulic punching machines for steel are manufactured. • At the Hannover Fair 1995 ALFRED RAITH launched the smallest and lightest core drilling machine in the market (Rotabest Piccolo), and one year later the Rotabest Automatic, a fully automatic core drilling machine. • Since October 1997 the company is certified according to ISO 9001 Standard and further audit surveys were already successfully passed. • The sales organisations ALFRA USA (near Chicago) and RIX-DANUBIA (near Budapest, Hungary) were founded in the year 2000. • Today ALFRED RAITH is exporting its products to more than 60 countries wordwide.
