In 1993, production was expanded to include precision bonded abrasives. Since then, Hermes has supplied the full range of abrasives. Hermes abrasives tools are used to produce aesthetically attractive surfaces and precision functional parts. We are market leaders in many important sectors such as the steel, automotive and its sub-suppliers, furniture, chipboard, glass and ski industries. This international presence guarantees qualified customer care all over the world as well as comprehensive consulting services for process design and for the use of Hermes abrasives. Over 70 % of turnover is created outside Germany in over 100 countries. Quality has a history - Quality has a future Hermes satisfies customer requirements for controlled quality with a globally certified quality management system. As early as 1993, the quality assurance system at the Hermes headquarters in Hamburg was certified to EN ISO 9001. This made Hermes the first European abrasives manufacturer to obtain this certification to include research and development work. Internal and external audits have since confirmed Hermes quality management. We received a group certificate in 1996 for certification of every one of our production sites throughout the world. Detailed knowledge regarding the raw materials required, sound experience in the production of abrasives, information about the process requirements of users - Hermes draws on all these factors for its forward-looking developments and product solutions. Top quality for the environment too Compliance with national and international laws and regulations is an important objective of Hermes environmental policy. In 1995, Hermes was the first abrasives factory in Europe to be successfully audited on the basis of voluntary certification to the EC ECO audit system. Certification of our Austrian factory in Bad St. Leonhard i.L. then followed in 1997. Today the Hermes environmental management system is certified according EN ISO 14001 : 1996. Internal and external auditing has since confirmed the Hermes environmental management system. In our "Environmental Protection" department, we work continuously on solutions for all Hermes plants to help improve the environmental standard, starting with selection of our raw materials and finishing with the optimisation of despatch. Delivery service Short delivery times From the purchase of raw materials to production to delivery, our process chain is supported by a modern SAP stock management and production control system. What is more, our high degree of flexibility in production and the commitment of our employees ensure that customers have the shortest possible delivery times in the case of production to order. We deliver on time even when demand peaks at short notice. Immediate delivery service Over 2,200 abrasives are held in the Hermes warehouse and can be delivered to customers within Germany just one day after ordering. Orders for items in stock recorded 2 p.m. will be despatched the same day.
