J.W. Lovibond developed the worlds first practical colorimeter as a means of ensuring the high quality of his beer. By the time of his death in 1918 he had established himself as a pioneer in the field of colour science and his company, The Tintometer Limited, was already known throughout the world for its range of instrumentation and expertise in the field of colorimetry. The company continued to grow in strength and as advances were made both in colour science research and in instrument development Lovibond® standards became specific for many products worldwide. The Tintometer Limited continues as a leader in its field today. Represented in over eighty countries, products are manufactured and exported globally via a well-established distributor network. In 2005, a major investment was made in new UK headquarters in Amesbury, with purpose built premises housing spacious offices, efficient warehousing facilities and providing direct access to London. The Tintometer Ltd has seen a large increase in sales with a strong, focussed management team and the development of new customer oriented support teams from Sales and Marketing through to Research and Development
