EVCO sa (France) was founded in 1978 by Nicholas Paul Camacho. The original mission was to promote and distribute EVCO UK products. However, EVCO UK was purchased by BTR group during 1978 and dismantled. As a result, EVCO made partnerships with a variety of different producers, all independent and specialized on a specific product line. The business model called for a substantial stock and strong organisation in order to reduce lead times to the OEM’s and aftermarket. This service, together with an experienced team capable of giving fast technical advice, enabled EVCO to grow rapidly until 1996 with approximately 35% of its turnover for the OEM sector, and the remainder to the aftermarket. In 1996, nearly 60% of EVCO’s suppliers were acquired by multinationals. Apart from the latent conflict of interest, EVCO was no longer capable of guaranteeing lead times and its supply source was seriously compromised. It became apparent that EVCO needed not only to control some of its production, but also to be able to conceive new generation products with proven enhanced performance. The OEM demands both in terms of enhanced seal life and in terms of guarantees was a guideline for the new development strategy. In 1999, the company’s business plan was redefined to cope with these new challenges with four main objectives: To enhance service and personalize the offer to the market (Information Technology), To increase its internal production and production know how, To conceive its own products, To be part of its customers engineering process, both for the OEM’s and aftermarket, in order to reduce costs whilst increasing sealing performance. EVCO’s international network of both clients and suppliers has continuously grown since 1999.
