At that time, the resistance element for electrical heaters were strip-wound metal hoses made of tungsten steel. In 1918, the market changed and BOA stopped the production of electrical heating systems and instead began manufacturing metal hoses under a licensing agreement. Shortly thereafter BOA engineers independently developed pressure resistant all-metal hoses. In the 1930s BOA began manufacturing metal bellows, then in 1947 a significant breakthrough was made with the invention of multi-ply expansion joints and the elastomeric forming / manufacturing process. In the early 1950s the factory turned gradually into a modern company which attained worldwide reputation in the industry. The high technical performance of BOA products led to product licensing and the building of a sales network that extended far beyond the Swiss border. The name BOA became synonymous with flexible tubing elements. Products were constantly redesigned to meet the newest and most demanding market requirements. As a result, applications expanded steadily and BOA entered new markets. In addition, BOA implemented modern design tools, process engineering, and test / control methods while continuously expanding manufacturing capacity. BOA grew into a medium-sized company specializing in high quality products, and built a strong export organization through subsidiaries and representatives. In 1990, BOA became part of the IWKA group, in 2001, a member of the Flexible Solutions Group.
