Nanosurf AG is a spin-off company of the University of Basel, one of the most important SPM centres of competence in the world. The companys activities concentrate on R&D and marketing whereas the production of most series parts (mechanics, electronics) is subcontracted to companies in and around Basel. Nanosurf AG was founded in Switzerland, on 4th of June in 1997 by: Lukas Howald, Dominik Braendlin and Robert Sum . Before establishing Nanosurf AG, all of the founders worked for about 8 years in the Prof. H.-J. Guentherodt research group (University of Basel), one of the opinion-leaders in scanning probe microscopy. Since then Nanosurf AG has developed from that small 3 man team to a multi-skilled team of professionals. The product range has grown to match this development. Vast improvements have been made, and will continue to be made, to many standard Nanosurf AG products and new products are continuously being assessed and developed in close collaboration with distinguished universities and polytechnics. This collaboration ensures that not only does Nanosurf AG have access to the latest developments, but that they are involved in their creation.
