Every execution can be ma......OCTIS - COMPANY WITH QUALITY SYSTEM CERTIFIED OCTIS is a Company producing cardan-joints and cardan-shafts with hub in execution with pin, with sleeve, with needle-roller bearings and with cross. Every execution can be made in steel, stainless steel and/or on request. The cardan-joints with hub, both whit pivot and with needle-roller bearings, produced by OCTIS can be considered ad derived from the standard as per DIN 808 except for some structural and functional modifications, which were introduced in the manufacture of its products by OCTIS. The basic differences with the joints, produced as per DIN 808 standard, are represented by the application of high-stregth steels for the highest ruggedness and torsional stiffness, even if with a reduced outside diameter. OCTIS cardan joints with pivot, needle-roller bearings and with cross are available in the following versions:SIMPLE JOINT • DOUBLE JOINT • JOINT EQUIPPED WITH QUICK-RELESAEUNIVERSAL JOINT The pivots and the spherical joint are made in high-stregth steel and are treated on the surface in order to resist to wears. The pivots till size 60.40 are assembled directly in the fork wings through a special process and they move in the spherical joint which represents the central nugget of the joint. This allows a wider area of articulation than the one in the forkwings. Therefore, we have a better torque transmission and a more reduced wear of the pivots and of their rotation seats. For the bigger sizes the pivots move in the hardened sleeves, which are inserted in the wings, and are blocked in the central joint.JOINT WITH NEEDLE-ROLLER BEARINGS The execution with needle-roller bearings is different from the normal universal-joints because of the introduction of a pair of long-life needle-roller bearings, where the pivots rotate. The joint pivots are made in high-strength steel and treated on the surface in order to resist to wears and they are constrained in the central joint nugget. Moreover, between the forkwings and the flat surfaces of the nugget there are some antifriction shaving rings, which absorb the side thurstes.CROSS-JOINT OCTIS joint type “C” belongs to the series of the cross-joints. It is a made of two hub-forks, which are bored and broached for the introduction of the spider equipped with needle-roller bearings. OCTIS cross-joints and - shafts also allow a drive precision at high speeds, 4/5000 rpm, and they have the possibility to substitute the spider-unit when worn. The advantages of “C” joints and shafts are basically given by the characteristics of the bearings, which are worked on machine-tools and heat-treated in order to get a better hardness and, moreover, they are equipped with a rubber packing assuring a protection from dirt and dampness. They can also be greased through the spiders periodically, where inside there is a canal which allows the lubricant distribution. The average lubricant frequency, every 1000 working hours, is normally an acceptable value.
