At first the company specialised in manufacturing various types of mechanical equipment, such as handling and conveying systems for bulk and packaged materials, industrial washing machines, and automatic harvesting machinery for agricultural products. Following these early craft-trade days, the company set out on its industrial phase, when, by an intense research, it rationalised and restricted its production fields, specialising in conveying systems for bulk and packaged materials. The companys tradition is based on the design and construction of mechanical conveying systems such as drag-chain, screw, belt and slat conveyors in a wide number of different sectors: disposal of industrial waste and sludge chemistry, sugar, and paper mechanical (conveyor for metallic chips and swarf). Toward the mid-80s, GOVONIs research division focused on the development of innovative equipment and systems for handling metallic chips and filtering of lubricating/cooling fluids. The results of this research - conducted in close co-operation with the Faculty of Engineering at Bologna University - led to the creation of a metallic chip conveying system which, due to its operational versatility, was covered by an international patent. This system is able to convey metallic chips of all morphologies (dust, short metallic chip and long tangled ribbons) and of all types (cast-iron, steel, brass, bronze, aluminium, etc..). The chief innovative concept of the system is based on the criterion of conveying metallic chips through a straight collector tube impelled by a rotating screw operating along the entire lenght of the tube. The conveying collector can operate in any position from horizontal to vertical, thus making it possible to build chip conveying systems either in underground channels or overhead (with the entire system above ground level). In this way, Govoni Handling Systems began producing a highly competitive and versatile product, which quickly won widespread favour in industrial sectors, especially where both traditional and automatic machine tools are employed (multi-spindle lathes, machining centres, transfer and special machines). As regards filtering of lubricating/cooling fluid, the results of the research led to building an on-board machine conveying and filtering system covered by an international patent. This is a highly ecological system, since makes it possible to avoid using filtering materials (such as paper, spunbonded fabric, etc...) with the resulting disposal problem. Govoni Handling Systems designs, builds and installs turn-key systems. The companys mission is to offer customers a high quality, peak reliability product. To satisfy this objective, the company produces all its strategic components in-house, protecting the relevant know-how with international patents. On top of that, the company has set up long-standing relations with contractors performing precision work with leading-edge technologies. The company implements in-house control on the quality of all components of its systems, focusing on the results obtained by heat treatment of wearing surfaces. Govoni Handling Systems practices a customer satisfaction policy, by totally involving its entire chain of suppliers in the companys activities. This means cooperation on certain technical details and respect of delivery times, in order to offer the best possible service to customers. The innovative chip conveying systems have enabled the company to play a leading role in various sectors, such as the automotive sector and automatic lathe workshops. Govoni Handling Systems has set up relations of mutual co-operation with several multinational corporations. Moreover, many significant foreign markets, such as Europe and United States, have shown interest in these types of product.
