In 1972 the company was acquired by LKB and as LKB Biochrom Ltd and in 1974 became the second company to take up residence on the now world renowned Cambridge Science Park. Subsequently Biochrom became part of the Pharmacia group through their purchase of LKB and in 1982, to complement the amino acid product line, the Company introduced the now famous Ultrospec range of spectrophotometers, over the years this product range has seen the addition of many new and industry-leading products. In 1999 the company was acquired by Harvard Apparatus Inc from Pharmacia & Upjohn and its name changed to Biochrom Ltd. Today our comprehensive and sophisticated range of Libra and WPA spectrophotometers, Anthos and Asys microplate instrumentation and Biochrom Amino Acid Analysers are sold world-wide through our international distribution network. Our products are sold to for a wide range of applications in the clinical, life-science and industrial markets. We currently employ approximately 100 people dedicated to the marketing, development, technology, manufacturing and administration of our product range.
