Over the years Scott & Fyfe has been traditionally involved with the production of industrial fabrics for floor coverings and packaging industries with significant involvement in polyester fabric for the coating industry. As these markets have matured, Scott & Fyfe have looked to develop a wider portfolio of materials in the more demanding area of technical textiles. Thinking tomorrow today has been the cornerstone of our business for more than 140 years. The drive to diversify through innovation, to explore new markets and meet the challenges of changing times through continuous investment in the people, products and process necessary to stay that vital one step ahead, has seen the Scott & Fyfe group grow. If there is one thing that has made the difference between survival and success, we believe it is our passion for the potential of industrial textiles and our proven expertise in pioneering new applications for the comprehensive range of materials with which we now work. In the 1960s, for example, we were among the first in our field to convert from traditional jute manufacturing to the production of polypropylene tape fabrics, paving the way a decade later for further expansion into stitch bonding, warp knit and extrusion techniques. We were responsible for the development of Textron for the rubber underlay industry, now supporting more carpets than any other backing in the world. Today the Scott & Fyfe Group consists of five manufacturing sites incorporating a total production facility of 58,000m² and is made up of the following locations: Scott & Fyfe Ltd (2 sites - Scotscraig Works & Tayport Works, both Tayport, Fife), Scott & Fyfe Composites Ltd (Belford Mills, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire), R&D Bayne (Tayport Works, Tayport, Fife), Scott & Fyfe S.A. de C.V., Mexico and Scott & Fyfe Industrial Textiles (Shenzhen) Ltd, China.
