(hereinafter called TRC) is the “newest”, the “oldest”, and the “most promising”enterprise in China’s railway transportation equipments manufacturing industry The “newest” means that TRC was just established on November 3rd, 2006, and its main body was born from the manufacturing plant of new passenger cars of the former CNR Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Works, so till now, it is just two years old. The “oldest” means that its predecessor, CNR Tangshan Locomotive and Rolling Stock Works, was built in 1881 following the construction of China’s first railway line from Tangshan — Xugezhuang during the westernization movement at the end of the Qing Dynasty. So this Works is the birthplace of China’s railway transportation equipments manufacturing industry. And in that year, China’s first steam locomotive named “Rocket” was born in this Works. After the earthquake occurred in Tangshan in 1976, the Works was moved to and rebuilt in the Fengrun District, Tangshan. TRC is the “most promising” enterprise of its kind. The reason for this lies in the following four aspects: Firstly, the development strategy of TRC relies on the economy both domestic and overseas, as well as conforms to the national policy of social harmonious development. TRC readjusted its technological layout, and redefined its products systems — two lines with four systems. The two lines include the aluminum alloy carbody production line and the carbon steel carbody production line. The four systems consist of the 350km/h EMU, our traditional products such as the Model 25G car and Model 25T car, the urban rail cars (including metrocar, LRV) ,tilting DMU and maglev. Secondly, TRC has created lots of first during its 127-year history. For example, in 1881, the China’s first steam locomotive named “Rocket” and the first passenger coach specially designed for Empress Dowager Cixi were born here In 1959, the China’s first batch of high-level official cars were built by us In 1989, the first batch of Model 25 railway passenger cars — 168 units of international bidding passenger cars were manufactured here. From then on, the Model 22 railway passenger cars were completely replaced by Model 25 cars In 1998, China’s first double-deck DMU was developed and manufactured here. Following that, the first tilting DMU of China was completed in TRC in 2003. At present, TRC is concentrating on the manufacture of the 350km/h EMUs cooperated with Siemens. Thirdly, TRC is one of the first group of the state-designated 103 innovation-oriented pilot enterprises in China, and the only one in Hebei Province. Upon the 350km/h EMU Project, our company will reach and integrate five “first-class”, namely first-class product, first-class working team, first-class technology, first-class management and first-class culture. Fourthly, TRC has a profound innovation cultural background. One hundred-plus- year history is a history of unceasing innovation. This profound cultural background will enable us to innovate and develop more advanced products. Carrying out the national strategic calls “Introduce the advanced technology, jointly design and manufacture EMU, forge Chinese own brand”, and under the guidance of Ministry of Railway and our parent company, China CNR Corporation Limited, all members of TRC are fully taking advantage of the historical opportunity of great development of Chinese railways, regarding the 350km/h EMU Project as their lifeline, and putting all their efforts in this Project. So far, this Project is duly implemented. The three EMUs as the first batch of this Project, manufactured as the traffic equipments of the Beijing Olympic Games, were delivered ahead of schedule. During the trial running on Beijing-Tianjin dedicated line, it achieved the highest speed of Chinese railways — 394.3km/h. On August 1st, prior to the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games, it was duly put into business operation on Beijing-Tianjin dedicated line.
