Nanning Chaofu Electric Technology Co., Ltd. has long been dedicated to the research and application of lightning protection for transmission and distribution lines. The company has developed high-energy dielectric arc-extinguishing lightning protection gap products for 10kV, 35kV, 110kV, and 220kV systems, capable of extinguishing expected power-frequency short-circuit currents up to 40kA with an arc-extinguishing time of <2ms. This series is the only product line in china that has achieved these performance specifications.

The core high-energy dielectric arc-extinguishing, lightning, protection technology was developed by the team led by Professor Wang Jufeng, legal representative of Nanning Chaofu Electric Technology Co., Ltd. and researcher at Guangxi University. It is a fully integrated new lightning protection technology covering theory, R&D, product development, and application, with independent intellectual property rights. The achievement has been evaluated by experts as reaching world-leading level.

The company is the primary drafting organization of the power industry standard "DL/T 2110-2020 Guidelines for Selection of Self-Arc-Extinguishing Parallel Gaps for Lightning Protection of AC Overhead Lines." It has been granted a total of 160 authorized patents, including 35 invention patents, 100 utility model patents, 25 design patents, 2 U.S. patents, 1 Japanese patent, and 1 Australian patent, Chairman Wang Jufeng has received the First Prize of Guangxi Technical invention Award (2013), First Prize of Guangxi Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2015), First Prize of Guangxi Power Grid Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2015), Second Prize of China Southern Power Grid Scientific and Technological Progress Award (2015), and the China Patent Excellence Award (2016). He has also published a monograph on high-energy dielectric arc extinguishing with Science Press.

The high-energy dielectric arc-extinguishing lightning protection gap series has been widely deployed across major state-owned enterprises, including State Grid, China Southern Power Grid, China Huadian Group, Sinopec, and CNPC. Applications cover lightning-prone regions in eight provinces, including Guangxi, Yunnan, Fujian, and Xinjiang, particularly on coastal lines, mountainous lines, and dedicated oilfield power supply lines with the highest lightning strike incidence. Since the products were first installed and operated in 2012 (with three-phase protection), more than 15,000 towers have been equipped at 10kV, over 600 towers at 35kV, more than 500 towers at 110kV, and over 200 towers at 220kV. In total, the protected line corridors exceed 1,000km, achieving the goals of "zero tripping" and "zero line breakage" within the protected sections.
