Changsha Institute of Mining Research Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "CIMR") was established in 1956 in accordance with China's first "Twelve-Year Science and Technology Development Plan." It was formerly affiliated with the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry. In 2010, it joined the Fortune Global 500 company — China Minmetals Corporation. In 2024, it was placed under the direct management of China Minmetals Corporation. For over 60 years, CIMR has been focused on the field of metal and non-metal mining development, specializing in research on new methods, new processes, new equipment, and new materials for mineral resource development. It has accumulated numerous industry-leading R&D achievements and possesses profound technical heritage and a strong talent team. The company holds fifteen science and technology platforms, including the "State Key Laboratory of Metal Mine Safety Technology," the "National Metal Mining Engineering Technology Research Center," the "Laboratory for Analysis and Identification of Major Disaster Accidents in Metal and Non-Metal Mines," and the "National Nonferrous Metals Electromechanical Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center," as well as the qualification to train master's degree students in two majors: Mining Engineering and Mechanical Design and Theory. It holds more than ten qualifications, including Grade A qualifications in the metallurgical industry (metallurgical mine engineering design), geological disaster assessment and treatment engineering investigation and design, geological disaster treatment engineering construction, and national work safety testing and inspection, as well as engineering consulting, safety evaluation institution certificates, and first-level enterprise evaluation unit for non-coal mine safety standardization. It has long been in a leading position in China's metal deposit development technology field and enjoys the reputation of "China's No. 1 Institute of Metal Mining."
