At that time Blolite was a technology tested and proven globally for at least a decade prior, yet relatively unknown in the United States. General Cable, then and now, has provided the products and technical support for Blolite fiber optic network infrastructure. In the mid 90’s General Cable partnered with a key military –contracted shipyard to research and explore potential developments of blown optical fiber technology for the U.S. Navy shipboard applications to replace conventional fiber optic cable. This joint effort delivered a successful Blolite system capable of meeting the demands and specialized circumstances of the U.S. Navy shipboard environment. Blolite installations in military, educational and commercial applications validate the technology and demonstrate its practical, highly flexible, cost-effective alternative benefits.
