On June 4, 2025, the Aqarios platform officially launched Luna v1.0, marking a significant advancement in the field of quantum optimization. Luna v1.0 introduces the FlexQAOA algorithm, dramatically enhancing the usability, performance, and practical applicability of quantum computing for real-world industrial constrained problems. FlexQAOA is a hybrid quantum algorithm specifically designed to directly handle industrial constraints within quantum circuits, encoding the constraints directly into the circuit itself, thereby eliminating the complex penalty structures and resource waste common in traditional approaches.

Luna v1.0 not only provides an intuitive user experience but also achieves deeper integration of quantum and hybrid algorithms, natively supporting the FlexQAOA algorithm. This design enables professionals in logistics, energy, manufacturing, and other industries to easily model, solve, and interpret complex optimization problems without requiring prior expertise in quantum computing. For example, in energy grid optimization, Luna v1.0 can balance power generation while strictly adhering to regulatory and capacity constraints; in manufacturing, it can efficiently assign tasks to machines while respecting production capacity and deadlines; in logistics, it can optimize vehicle routes with precise load limits and delivery windows.
Benchmark results show that FlexQAOA achieves or even surpasses baseline quantum methods on complex optimization challenges such as the multidimensional knapsack problem, even with fewer QAOA layers. As the number of QAOA iterations increases, FlexQAOA consistently delivers superior results, significantly outperforming traditional penalty-based algorithms. In addition, Luna v1.0 has been successfully applied in collaboration with E.ON Digital Technology to optimize electricity demand for flexible appliances in prosumer households, demonstrating significant potential to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of energy systems.
The release of Luna v1.0 makes quantum optimization accessible to anyone looking to get started. Moving forward, Aqarios plans to extend FlexQAOA to support a broader range of constraint types, improve its performance on quantum hardware, and expand hybrid optimization workflows.
