The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance was held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20. Hou Qijun, Chairman of China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), attended the opening ceremony. Following the selection of two achievements in 2025, Sinopec has once again presented two outcomes at this year's conference, involving AI-assisted lubricating grease R&D and a specialized knowledge dataset for oil, gas, and geothermal new energy. In the field of AI-assisted lubricating grease product development, Sinopec's Research Institute of Petroleum Processing has established a full-chain AI R&D system. This system addresses the high trial-and-error costs and long cycles of traditional R&D by introducing artificial intelligence technology, effectively shortening the development cycle and successfully developing a self-monitoring luminescent grease. The related research has received funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and this achievement has been selected as a strategic high-value AI scenario for central enterprises.

The specialized knowledge dataset for oil, gas, and geothermal new energy has been selected as an outstanding achievement in high-quality datasets for central enterprises. This dataset integrates full-chain materials such as geothermal standards and specifications, production operation data, and professional literature, enabling efficient application of integrated large and small models. Based on this dataset, two application scenarios—geothermal safety production assistance and a geothermal intelligent assistant—have been established, helping to enhance the intelligence level of geothermal resource development and utilization. The selection of these two achievements demonstrates Sinopec's exploration in leveraging artificial intelligence technology to improve the quality and efficiency of traditional energy businesses.
