According to Xinjiang Wind Power Guochuang Technology Co., Ltd., the 360-meter wind measurement tower of the 800,000-kilowatt experimental wind farm was recently successfully completed and put into operation in Mulei County, Xinjiang, becoming the tallest wind measurement tower in the global wind power industry. This marks a new milestone for China in the fields of high-altitude wind observation and wind power standard technical verification.

It is reported that Mulei County, where this wind measurement tower is located, lies in the core area of Xinjiang's ten major wind zones and five major solar zones, and is part of the large-scale wind and photovoltaic base in desert, gobi, and wasteland areas designated in the 14th Five-Year Plan for Renewable Energy Development. In recent years, Mulei County has vigorously developed its new energy industry, and in 2025 it built Xinjiang's first county-level "dual ten-million-kilowatt" new energy base.

The completion of the 360-meter wind measurement tower is an important achievement in the construction of the Changji Mulei Experimental Wind Farm in Xinjiang and will significantly enhance China's high-altitude wind resource observation and testing verification capabilities. Zhang Ziping, Executive Deputy General Manager of Xinjiang Wind Power Guochuang Technology Co., Ltd., introduced that the wind measurement tower can conduct gradient observations of wind speed, wind direction, wind shear, turbulence intensity, atmospheric stability, and other parameters at different heights, using measured data to serve high-altitude wind energy research and provide verification basis for the large-scale design of wind turbine generators and the construction of new power systems.
On the day the 360-meter wind measurement tower was completed, the "Wind Power Standard Technical Verification Base" recognized by the National Wind Power Standardization Technical Committee was also unveiled.

Zhang Ziping stated that relying on this base, the operating entity will focus on tackling cutting-edge wind power technologies, build an open and shared scientific research platform, promote deep collaboration among the government, universities, research institutes, and enterprises, play an important role in providing standardization of wind resource observation, verification of theories and models, and research and development of new wind measurement equipment, and provide solid scientific and technological support for the national energy transition and the "dual carbon" goals.
