The special steel balls for semi-autogenous (SAG) mills from Iraeta are jointly developed by the Iraeta expert team and Academician Li Yiyi's team at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences. On the existing basis, the chemical composition of the material has been optimized, and the traditional heat treatment method has been changed, greatly improving the toughness of the product, enhancing the fatigue resistance and mechanical properties of the metal, and effectively reducing the consumption of steel balls. The products are widely used in large-scale SAG mills in mining, and many well-known mines at home and abroad have already selected Iraeta's SAG mill balls.
The products can be applied to 4.88*2.39m SAG mills through 11.06*7.01m SAG mills and other equipment. At a large copper mine concentrator in Brazil, the wear rate decreased by 20% while other indicators remained unchanged. At a large copper mine concentrator in Mongolia, since the cooperation began in 2016, the products have continuously helped the customer save energy, reduce consumption, and cut costs.
