Engineered and built with the quality and safety you have come to expect from a Volvo. Features of the MW500: Water system The MW500 has a 156 gal. polyurethane dual water fill water tank. The dual water fill ports eliminate the need to turn the machine or the water truck around for access. A built-in steel water strainer prevents large materials from entering the water tank. The spray bar located in the drum housing cools and cleans teeth as well as reduces dust emissions. Safety Packed with safety features, the MW500 comes with a backup alarm, horn, and adjustable beacon on the operator platform, along with three mirrors and three emergency stop switches. A floor switch prevents the machine from proceeding without an operator on the platform. Operator Comfort The MW500 features an ergonomic operator station with a fully adjustable control panel and steering wheel column. The drive lever pivots up 30° for comfortable operation in standing, sitting, or crouching positions. Joysticks are easily accessible, and the whole platform provides a 360° view of the working area and excellent visibility to the cutting area. Conveyor System The MW500 conveyor is adjustable four ways: up, down, and 25° to each side. Employing a box-type design with canvas covers, the conveyor also features underside wheels to prevent material sticking. When the right rear leg is swivelled inboard, conveyor swing is limited. An optional package includes a quick-disconnect feature and a hydraulically raised rear mold board.Drum area For optimal conveying, the standard MW500 drum is 500 mm (19.69 in) wide and features 15 mm (.625 in) tooth spacing. Narrower drums and finer spacing are available. The standard weld-on tooth holders provide durability. The side skirts are hydraulic for easy raising and lowering, and are made of heavy material for stability and long life. Drive system The exclusive Line Manager System offers better straight-line steering and easier handling by adjusting power to the wheel motors and compensating for the machine drift association with offset rear drum spinning. The MW500 features a 210 mm (7.87 in) cutting radius, similar to three-wheel competitive models and with the improved stability of a four-wheel machine. Serviceability The MW500 features a swing-out valve block and remote hydraulic drains for easy service and reduced downtime. In addition, all routine maintenance points are within easy reach. Powertrain The Deutz TCD 2012 liquid-cooled diesel engine provides 95 kW (127 hp) at 2 300 rpm. The heavy-duty belt drive boasts automatic hydraulic belt tensioning and central shaft configuration for optimal belt tension.
