Wedoany.com Report on Mar 6th, Rohde & Schwarz of Germany recently announced that its CMP180 wireless communications tester has successfully supported Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. in completing comprehensive validation and performance testing of 5×5 MIMO technology for the next-generation Wi-Fi 8 network platform. This collaborative progress helps accelerate the full-cycle testing of Wi-Fi 8 chipsets from development to production, providing device manufacturers with pre-built test routines to shorten product time-to-market.
Qualcomm Technologies utilized the CMP180 tester to validate the advanced multi-antenna capabilities supporting 5×5 MIMO across the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz frequency bands. This architecture can enhance the capacity and connection reliability of Wi-Fi 8 platforms in real-world deployment scenarios. Based on the IEEE 802.11bn specification, Wi-Fi 8 improves upon Wi-Fi 7 by enhancing reliability, efficiency, and mobility, extending range, increasing spectrum utilization, and reducing latency through new PHY and MAC layer technologies.
The new features of Wi-Fi 8 will drive wireless LAN performance in homes, offices, venues, and factories, supporting applications such as extended reality, AI-assisted applications, real-time cloud gaming, and ultra-high-definition content streaming. The CMP180 tester supports full frequency bands, full channel bandwidths, and multi-antenna operations, providing high-precision measurements that enable Qualcomm Technologies to validate key features such as 5×5 MIMO performance, advanced modulation and coding schemes, and distributed tone resource units.
Goce Talaganov, Vice President of Mobile Radio Testers at Rohde & Schwarz, stated: "We are pleased to strengthen our long-term collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies to provide unique test solutions for the next frontier of Wi-Fi innovation. The advanced capabilities of the CMP180 and our close cooperation will empower device manufacturers to bring innovative Wi-Fi 8 products to market quickly and with confidence."
Ganesh Swaminathan, Vice President and General Manager of Wireless Infrastructure and Networking at Qualcomm Technologies, stated: "Qualcomm Technologies' Wi-Fi 8 portfolio is designed to deliver the next level of performance, reliability, and scalability for a wide range of network use cases. As part of this portfolio approach, we are advancing innovations like higher-order MIMO to help improve performance in real-world environments. Our collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz highlights the progress of these capabilities as the Wi-Fi 8 ecosystem gains momentum."
