As a significant hospital construction project, it will involve building a new tower with patient care spaces and an underground parking facility connecting to the hospital's existing buildings. Following a prequalification process, four teams were invited to submit proposals in August 2025.

The following teams submitted proposals by the deadline: Building Beyond Alliance, EllisDon + Parkin, North York Healthcare Alliance, and PCL Constructors Inc. The project is being delivered using an alliance model. Technical and commercial proposals have been received, with collaborative and behavioral assessments scheduled for this spring. The alliance partner is expected to be announced this summer, after which the team will jointly advance the project to its next phase.

During the alliance development phase, the selected team will work closely with the hospital to advance the project design and mitigate risks. Construction of this hospital project is anticipated to commence following the completion of the development phase. The completion of the new tower will enhance North York General Hospital's patient care capacity, providing the local community with an improved healthcare environment, marking a crucial hospital development initiative for the North York region.
