Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, The 2026 civil aviation summer-autumn flight season is about to commence on March 29. To meet the growing travel demands of passengers and further densify the Xinjiang route network, China's Western Airlines plans to launch a new direct Chongqing-Turpan route for the new season. This route will be operated exclusively by Western Airlines, providing a convenient air link for tourists from the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle to visit "Xinjiang's First Spring" for flower viewing and spring outings.

The flight number for the Chongqing-Turpan route is PN6467/8, scheduled to operate once weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The outbound flight departs from Chongqing at 06:55 and arrives in Turpan at 10:55; the return flight departs from Turpan at 11:55 and arrives back in Chongqing at 16:00. This schedule fully considers the duration of tourists' stay at the destination, allowing travelers from the Chengdu-Chongqing region to easily realize a "morning departure, morning arrival" flower-viewing and spring outing trip.
Turpan is known as "Xinjiang's First Spring," being the first place in Xinjiang to welcome spring. From late March to April each year, apricot blossoms bloom in full splendor in places like Nanhu Village in Xia Town, Toksun County, and Kaisiker Village in Golebuyi Township, attracting countless tourists in pursuit of spring scenery. From March 20 to April 10 this year, the 2026 Turpan Apricot Blossom Season Cultural Tourism Activity, themed "Xinjiang's First Spring, Blossoming Turpan," will be grandly held. The 26 series of activities cover an integrated model of "flower viewing + interaction + consumption." Visitors can not only admire the apricot blossoms but also experience intangible cultural heritage projects such as naan bread making, pottery making, and Atlas silk tie-dyeing. At night, the intangible cultural heritage activity of "da tie hua" (iron flower fireworks) and the apricot blossom light show will complement each other, presenting a visual and cultural feast for visitors.
The launch of this exclusive route not only fills the gap of direct flights from Southwest China to Turpan but also precisely meets the travel demands of the Apricot Blossom Season, the May Day Golden Week, and the summer tourism peak. It will vigorously promote the integrated development of the "aviation + culture and tourism" industry and inject new momentum into Turpan's efforts to build a comprehensive all-season tourism destination.
For the new season, Western Airlines continues to expand its route network in Xinjiang. In addition to launching the new direct Chongqing-Hami route (operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays) and the Chongqing-Turpan route (operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays), the company also stably operates multiple routes into Xinjiang, including Zhengzhou-Korla, Zhengzhou-Urumqi, Chongqing-Korla, Chongqing-Urumqi, Chongqing-Hotan, Xining-Kashgar, Zhongwei-Urumqi, and Zhongwei-Kashgar. In the future, Western Airlines also plans to gradually launch routes to more destinations within Xinjiang, such as Altay, Kuqa, and Hotan, further improving its "trunk-feeder combined" route network and building a more convenient air bridge for Xinjiang's economic and social development.
