Wedoany.com Report on Mar 16th, The government of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, recently announced that it will establish an agricultural equipment leasing company, aiming to provide modern agricultural machinery support to farmers across the state and promote large-scale mechanized farming.
Governor Umo Eno introduced this plan to the media after inspecting related facilities located at Ekpri Nsukara in the state capital, Uyo. He acknowledged the progress made by the contractor at the project site and stated that the core objective of this initiative is to provide necessary agricultural equipment to farmers at subsidized prices.
Reportedly, the equipment available for leasing includes plows, harvesters, and other farming tools. Eno stated, "These equipment will be leased to farmers across the state to enhance productivity and encourage large-scale farming." He further explained that this plan is part of his administration's overall strategy to promote agricultural mechanization, increase crop yields, and boost farmers' income.
Speaking about the state government's Tree Crop Revitalization Program, Eno said that related work will officially commence at the beginning of the rainy season to benefit crop growth. He revealed that a palm seedling nursery has already been established, farmers across the state have completed registration, and the distribution of seedlings for planting will begin within the next two weeks.
Eno called on farmers to actively utilize the government's agricultural projects to expand production and contribute to the state's economic growth.
