Wedoany.com Report on Mar 17th, The ABB Fidas24 gas analyzer has now received certification from CSA Group for use in hazardous industrial environments in the United States and Canada. This certification indicates that this analyzer is suitable for industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, and chemicals, where potentially explosive atmospheres may exist.

The Fidas24 gas analyzer is a flame ionization detector that optimizes process flows, ensures compliance, and protects personnel and assets in various applications by measuring total hydrocarbon content. Its working principle involves burning the sample gas in a hydrogen flame and measuring the resulting ion current. With a compact design and a robust Ex-p pressurized explosion-proof housing, the Fidas24 already meets European ATEX and international IECEx standards, making it suitable for areas where explosive gases or combustible dust may be present.
Fabrice Spriestersbach, Product Manager for ABB's Measurement & Analytics business unit, said: "The CSA certification for the Fidas24 gas analyzer further demonstrates our commitment to providing safe and reliable solutions. We are able to offer compliant analyzers for hazardous area applications in the US and Canada, while continuing the Fidas24's consistent advantages of precise performance, ease of use, and simple installation."
The Fidas24 gas analyzer is designed with operator safety as a core principle. Via Ethernet connection, it supports full remote operation through a human-machine interface, reducing the need for personnel to enter potentially hazardous areas. When system faults or maintenance alerts occur, operators can use ABB's My Measurement Assistant+ solution to scan a dynamic QR code, which utilizes artificial intelligence to generate a complete diagnostic report, capable of resolving up to 80% of technical support issues within minutes.
The Fidas24 also helps customers ensure their production operations comply with regulatory requirements from agencies such as the US Environmental Protection Agency and Environment and Climate Change Canada. By continuously monitoring total hydrocarbon content in real-time, it helps minimize the impact of volatile organic compound emissions on human health and the environment. Its response time of less than 1.5 seconds means it can instantly detect emission peaks, generate accurate reports, and optimize operational control.
One of the core strengths of the Fidas24 gas analyzer is its ease of operation. It uses existing plant instrument air for gas purging, reducing the costs and maintenance efforts associated with procuring and managing nitrogen supplies. With simple setup and a compact design, it can be quickly installed and put into operation without the need for additional system integration.
To further simplify maintenance, the analyzer features automatic calibration. By controlling external valves connected to test gas cylinders, the analyzer can autonomously perform calibration, ensuring consistently accurate measurement performance.
