Wedoany.com Report, On March 16, 2026, regional aircraft manufacturer ATR, based in Toulouse, France, announced that Singapore-based aircraft leasing company Avation has exercised its rights to purchase five ATR 72-600 aircraft under an agreement signed in 2011. These aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2028 and 2029.

This marks Avation's 50th to 54th ATR aircraft order since the beginning of their collaboration. To date, Avation has delivered 27 ATR aircraft to global operators and has introduced the ATR model to three new operators within the past six months. The ATR 72-600 aircraft is favored in the regional aviation market for its high fuel efficiency and low operating costs.

Jeff Chatfield, Executive Chairman of Avation, stated: "Converting purchase rights into firm orders helps strengthen our order backlog. The ATR 72-600 offers cost advantages in regional route operations and is suitable for replacing older aircraft models. Adding these five aircraft will support our growth plans, enhance fleet availability, and serve the rapidly developing regional market. Industry analysis indicates that the global market may require over 2,000 new turboprop aircraft in the next two decades."

Nathalie Tarnaud Laude, Executive Chairman of ATR, added: "Leasing companies play a crucial role in expanding the ATR user base. Many airlines have experienced the performance of ATR aircraft through leasing and subsequently chosen to purchase. This order from Avation solidifies our partnership and helps drive market development and provide reliable air connectivity."

Avation is a Singapore-based aircraft leasing company listed on the London Stock Exchange. ATR is a joint venture between Airbus and Leonardo, focused on manufacturing regional aircraft with under 90 seats. Its aircraft operate in over 100 countries worldwide and open an average of approximately 120 new routes each year. ATR aircraft conducted their first 100% sustainable aviation fuel flight test in 2022.
