en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 25th, Investment management firm Sosteneo has recently completed the acquisition of the remaining 50% stake in the 151 MW Mineo solar photovoltaic project located in the Catania region of Sicily, Italy, achieving full ownership of the project. This transaction marks a significant milestone within the collaborative framework established between Sosteneo and Danish independent power producer European Energy in 2023.Mineo Solar Project

The Mineo solar project has now entered the ready-to-build phase and secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) under Italy's FERX scheme in December 2025. According to this scheme, 70% of the project's electricity output will be covered by the CfD, providing long-term, stable revenue expectations while effectively mitigating market risks associated with curtailment and negative electricity prices.

Federica Gallina, Partner and Head of Investments and Asset Management at Sosteneo, stated: "The completion of the Mineo transaction reflects our structured partnership established with European Energy in 2023 and the project's successful progression to the ready-to-build phase. Full ownership of the Mineo project enhances the scale of our solar PV investment portfolio in Southern Italy, supporting the delivery of long-term contracted revenues and operational efficiency for our clients."

As the infrastructure investment platform under Generali Investments, Sosteneo focuses on greenfield project development in the energy transition sector, with a portfolio spanning solar photovoltaics and battery energy storage systems. The company has a presence in multiple regions across Italy, including participation in a 260 MW solar project within the Apulia Green Hydrogen Valley, where it co-holds a 40% stake alongside Edison, Saipem, and Invitalia.

Furthermore, in September 2023, Sosteneo acquired the 68 MW Ramacca solar power plant in Sicily from European Energy and continues to advance its investment strategy combining solar with energy storage systems. This full acquisition of the Mineo solar project further solidifies Sosteneo's position in the Italian renewable energy market.
