en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 26th, NXP Semiconductors recently announced the launch of the Omlox Starter Kit in collaboration with SynchronicIT and Flowcate. This kit is a complete end-to-end hardware and software solution for evaluating and deploying real-time location systems (RTLS) based on the Omlox standard, helping customers quickly deploy interoperable RTLS systems. Its core is powered by NXP's Trimension SR048 Ultra-Wideband (UWB) System-on-Chip and the MCX W72 wireless microcontroller.
According to ABI Research forecasts, RTLS deployments utilizing UWB technology are expected to grow rapidly over the next five years, with a projected compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21% from 2025 to 2030. Such systems can enhance efficiency and safety in industrial environments, but technology fragmentation and vendor lock-in have hindered widespread adoption. The Omlox open positioning standard addresses these challenges with a unified framework, ensuring multi-vendor interoperability and long-term system viability.
The Omlox Starter Kit is designed to simplify the evaluation and prototyping of Omlox-based RTLS. It integrates SynchronicIT's UWB tags and anchors to provide real-time location data, SynchronicIT's software as the positioning engine, and Flowcate's DeepHub middleware as the data analytics platform. These components together build an intelligent, flexible RTLS platform suitable for work scenarios such as asset tracking, robot positioning, and worker safety monitoring.
Charles Dachs, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Secure Connected Edge at NXP Semiconductors, stated, "The Omlox Starter Kit demonstrates how open standards can transform the RTLS landscape. The integrated kit based on the Trimension SR048 turns complex tasks into standard-driven solutions, allowing customers to rely on its adaptability for future needs."
Vincent van der Locht, Managing Director of SynchronicIT, noted, "High-precision industrial positioning requires the synergy of hardware, software, and standards. Our Omlox-compatible anchors and tags, combined with the positioning engine, lay the foundation for deploying scalable UWB RTLS, helping customers easily achieve precise positioning."
Matthias Joest, CEO of Flowcate, emphasized, "Interoperability is the foundation of reliable location intelligence, and Omlox makes it a reality. By integrating DeepHub and the analytics suite, this kit provides standardized, multi-technology data, removing barriers to RTLS adoption."
The Omlox Starter Kit supports the rapid creation of configurable RTLS, with a design focused on scalability. Pilot projects can be easily expanded to full-facility deployments without the need to replace hardware or modify software. It combines UWB positioning hardware, a real-time engine, and a unified data analytics layer to ensure location data is accurate and applicable to diverse industrial applications.
NXP's Trimension SR048 UWB SoC provides high-precision ranging, supporting various modes such as TDoA, RToF, and DL-TDoA. Its low-power design is suitable for battery-powered tags and integrates seamlessly with the MCX series microcontrollers, accelerating UWB device development. This solution is designed for harsh environments, with an operating temperature range from -40°C to 115°C.
