en.Wedoany.com Report on Mar 27th, Recently, the localization upgrade of the core DCS control system for the No. 2 high-pressure unit in the Polyolefins Department of Maoming Petrochemical in Guangdong, China was successfully completed. It marked the successful grid-connected operation of the first domestically-produced DCS system for the Basell high-pressure tubular process in China, filling a gap in the relevant domestic field.Image related to DCS system upgrade

This upgrade adopted the domestically-produced ECS-700 system from Zhejiang University SUPCON, completely replacing the original imported Honeywell system. The Basell high-pressure tubular process technology has high technical difficulty and stringent safety requirements. The upgrade involved 2700 I/O points, hundreds of complex logic interlocks, and 49 sets of sequential control programs. Prior to this, there was no precedent for a similar domestic localization upgrade in China.

According to relevant personnel from Maoming Petrochemical, the production process of the high-pressure polyethylene unit is characterized by high temperature and high pressure, placing extremely high demands on the stability and reliability of the control system. This localization project, from design and system configuration to on-site commissioning, was collaboratively completed by the company's technical team and the domestic system supplier. During the upgrade, technicians comprehensively reviewed and optimized the control logic of the original system to ensure the new system meets operational requirements in terms of response speed, control accuracy, and safety protection.

Continuous operation has verified the stable performance of the new system, with all control indicators meeting expected requirements. The technical pathway and practical experience formed from this upgrade will provide a replicable and scalable model for the domestic localization of similar high-pressure units in China.

The success of this DCS localization also reflects the further enhancement of technological capabilities in the field of industrial control systems.
