This marks the company's transition from the trial and verification stage to large-scale production for its bar and wire rod products.
The total planned capacity for the high-end electrical aluminum rod continuous casting and rolling project is 200,000 tons per year, to be constructed in two phases. The production line adopts China's mature 4+8 full two-roll mill and tilting melting/holding furnace technology, achieving industry-leading levels in production efficiency and labor productivity. Upon completion, the project will primarily produce L3 and above series high-strength, high-conductivity aluminum alloy conductor rods, with high-end products accounting for over 50% of the output.
As a core raw material for cable manufacturing, electrical aluminum rods possess excellent conductivity and workability. They are widely used in power cables, communication cables, control cables, and other products, providing solid support for modern society's power and information transmission. With the rapid development of the new energy industry, the demand for these rods in manufacturing key components such as new energy vehicle battery connection wires and motor windings continues to rise, indicating broad market prospects.
Aiming to seize this market opportunity, Dongxing Aluminum is actively exploring new paths for industrial upgrading by leveraging its existing resources of high-quality molten aluminum. As early as 2024, the company implemented a pilot line transformation project with an annual capacity of 10,000 tons for electrical aluminum rods at its Jiayuguan Melting and Casting Area No. 1. Currently, this pilot line is operating at full capacity, with stable monthly production exceeding 1,000 tons. The launch of this high-end electrical aluminum rod continuous casting and rolling project represents a significant step for the company to further expand its industrial development space and enhance its market competitiveness.
It is reported that the Phase I project, with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons, is planned to be completed by the end of December this year. It mainly involves renovating the existing plant at the Jiayuguan Melting and Casting Area No. 1 and constructing two new continuous casting and rolling production lines, each with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons. The Phase II project will be launched in an orderly manner based on the full completion and operation of the Phase I project.
