en.Wedoany.com Report, at 13:10 on March 26th, the natural gas preheating and ignition for the hot molten salt tank of the 1,000,000 kW "CSP + New Energy" integrated project in Bozhou, Xinjiang, invested by China Xinhua Hydropower Co., Ltd., was successfully completed in one attempt. This marks a phased breakthrough in the project's commissioning and lays a solid foundation for the high-quality completion and operation of the integrated project.
It is understood that the hot molten salt tank is the core equipment of the thermal energy storage system in the CSP plant. With a diameter of 32.5 meters and a height of 14.5 meters, it can hold nearly 12,000 tons of high-temperature molten salt. Its designed maximum operating temperature is 590°C, with a working maximum temperature of 563°C. It serves as the core carrier for achieving long-duration solar energy storage and stable power supply.
During the ignition process, the project team strictly followed the specialized plan and efficiently completed six preparatory procedures, including the gas tightness test for natural gas equipment and pipelines, debugging of the burner local control cabinet and DCS temperature measurement points, and interlock testing of the ignition device. The flame burned stably, and all operating parameters met the design standards. Over the next 10 days, the system will be heated up to above 350°C in a gradient manner, creating conditions for the subsequent molten salt filling.
According to previous reports, the project is located in Dalete Town, Bole City, Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, covering an area of 2.04 million square meters. It is invested in and constructed by East China Xinhua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. The 100,000 kW CSP project is constructed under a PC (Procurement and Construction) contract by a consortium consisting of Solar Thermal Alliance member Gansu Installation and Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Hengji Nengmai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. The project adopts the "tower-type concentrating solar power + molten salt thermal storage" technology route, equipped with 13,402 heliostats that concentrate sunlight from an area of 530,000 square meters. Through the molten salt energy storage system, it can continuously generate green electricity even at night or on rainy days. Upon completion and operation, it is estimated to generate an average annual clean energy output of 2.04 billion kilowatt-hours, saving approximately 622,400 tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.6984 million tons annually.
