Wedoany.com Report-Dec 31Two Australian freight rail operators will get new bulk wagons from China.

CRRC Yangtze Group has completed the delivery of narrow-gauge coal hopper cars to Bowen Rail Company in Australia. These wagons are designed for Queensland’s 1067mm gauge rail network and are part of Bowen Rail’s growing freight fleet.

Each hopper car has a load capacity of 85.3 tons and is engineered to support longer train formations while adhering to local operational standards. Structural adjustments were made to optimize performance in areas such as durability, safety, and unloading efficiency.

Bowen Rail Company currently operates a fleet of 536 wagons alongside 14 Progress Rail EMD® GT46C-ACe Gen III locomotives. The delivery of these hopper cars aligns with the company’s ongoing rail freight operations in Queensland's coal supply chain.

Ore wagons for Fortescue

The final batch of 62 ore cars recently departed from Dalian Port, completing CRRC Qiqihar's delivery of all 298 ore cars with a 40-ton axle load to Australia.

These ore cars, specifically designed for Fortescue (formerly FMG), feature a 40-ton axle load and a load capacity of 137.4 tons.

Their axle load, load capacity, and traction tonnage rank among the highest globally, positioning them as a benchmark for heavy-duty freight cars currently in mass operation.
