Wedoany.com Report-Jan 3, Japan-based Renova Inc. on Dec. 27 announced that the Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant has resumed operations following the completion of an improvement project. The 74.8-megawatt (MW) facility, located in Tokushima City, Japan, is fueled by wood pellets and palm kernel shells.

Renova in December 2023 announced that the facility had begun operations. The company the following year indicated the plant had experienced some operational problems. In mid-2024, Renova announced the plant would be shut down from late September 2024 through December 2024 to enable the installation of permanent improvements aimed at maintaining long-term stable operation. That work is now complete. The facility resumed regulation operations on Dec. 22.

The Tokushima Tsuda Biomass Power Plant is one of several biomass power plants developed by Renova. Additional Renova biomass plants that are currently operational include the 20.5 MW Akita Biomass facility, the 75 MW Kanda Biomass plant, the 75-MW Morinomiyako Biomass Power Plant, and the 75 MW Ishinomaki Hibarino Biomass plant. Biomass plants currently under construction include the 75 MW Omaezakikou Biomass plant and the 49.9 MW Karatsu Biomass facility.
