en.Wedoany.com Reported - UK-based Carter Contracting Services (CCS) has acquired its first 500-tonne capacity, four-point hydraulic gantry system, which is now in operation.

The hydraulic gantry system features 24-metre track beams on each side, four towers each capable of bearing 125 tonnes, and a variety of header beams to suit project requirements. CCS stated that the gantry is already in use on a project and will undergo a full repaint and upgrade upon completion. In the future, it will be used for vertical lifting, top-and-tail operations, and moving heavy loads in conditions where standard cranes cannot access. The company also revealed that it may subsequently acquire a smaller system for use in more confined spaces.

In another project, CCS deployed Cometto self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) from its fleet for equipment movement at the HS2 site in the West Midlands. The task involved moving a mast across an existing railway line at the project's Delta Junction section, which CCS chose to carry out during a nighttime railway possession. This was the final mast erected on behalf of Balfour Beatty VINCI for the junction section, following four previous similar operations completed by CCS.

As reported by HLPFI last month, CCS has also added a MAN tractor unit and 28 axle lines of Goldhofer THP modules to its fleet. In February this year, the company acquired a beam bridge transport trailer and custom-built a jacking and skidding system with a 400-tonne capacity.
