en.Wedoany.com Reported - On May 18, Unit 3 of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant was brought to rated power operation after completing its scheduled preventive maintenance with modernization upgrades ahead of schedule. The unit's grid connection and subsequent power ramp-up process were carried out in accordance with the requirements of safe operation technical procedures, with no anomalies detected.

This maintenance outage, which began in March this year, was implemented according to the annual maintenance schedule approved by Rosenergoatom, Russia's nuclear power utility. The maintenance work was completed 6.5 days ahead of the original deadline, while strictly adhering to all necessary safety and quality requirements.

During the scheduled preventive maintenance, specialists performed repairs on 12,500 units (sets) of process equipment across the reactor shop, turbine shop, electrical shop, and other departments, and completed 476 operations related to fuel assemblies.

Approximately 2,000 personnel participated in this maintenance work, including nuclear power plant production and maintenance staff, engineering and technical support specialists, and contractor personnel.

During the maintenance period, work on resource characteristics management and modernization of the main components of the reactor installation was also successfully completed, including inspection and replacement of the unit's process channels, control and protection system channels, as well as modernization of the main condensate system and other projects.

Sergey Ziskin, Deputy Chief Engineer for Maintenance at the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, stated that factors ensuring the efficient progress of this scheduled maintenance included coordination and cooperation between nuclear power plant specialists and contractor organizations. The application of Rosatom Production System tools, detailed production analysis, clear planning, rational personnel allocation, the use of robotic devices in operations, and many other measures also played a positive role.

Currently, the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is completing preparations for the scheduled preventive maintenance of Unit 4, an RBMK reactor.
