en.Wedoany.com Reported - BT Business has launched a new suite of cybersecurity tools for UK small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to address the growing threat of cybercrime. The company's latest research shows a 300% year-on-year increase in malicious scanning activity, with connected devices being probed an average of 4,000 times daily, and artificial intelligence tools rapidly expanding the scale and speed of cyber threats. BT data indicates the company blocks 4 million cyberattacks on its network every day.
SMEs are a primary target, with half stating that cyber threat risk is one of their top technology concerns. Despite this, nearly 1.8 million businesses—approximately one-third of all UK SMEs—lack basic cyber protection, representing a significant gap in national defence. Government data shows UK businesses lose an average of £3,550 per cyber intrusion; 43% of UK businesses have experienced at least one intrusion or attack in the past year.
BT is launching new AI-driven cyber tools powered by CrowdStrike technology, giving SMEs access to cybersecurity protection typically reserved for large enterprises. The solution, built on CrowdStrike's AI technology, provides real-time monitoring of suspicious activity and rapid automated remediation of potential threats, allowing attacks to be stopped before they cause impact. Alongside these products, BT Business is also launching free cyber support and a nationwide marketing campaign for SMEs, reinforcing its commitment to making security protection accessible to every UK business.
Research shows over 80% of SMEs believe personalised, face-to-face guidance would help improve their security posture, prompting BT to offer free support based on National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) guidance to help close the UK's widening cybersecurity resilience gap. BT is now providing the following free tools to UK SMEs: Cyber Health Check, a simple self-assessment tool helping SMEs understand their risks and receive a cybersecurity score with a prioritised action plan; Cyber Guides, a team of cyber advisors offering clear, practical advice via phone, online chat, and in-store; AI Cyber Assistant, providing 24/7 answers to any cyber questions, leveraging guidance and insights from BT security experts; and Cyber Support Hub, a platform offering practical explainers and simple how-to guides to help SMEs stay one step ahead of cyber threats.
Jon James, CEO of BT Business, said: "As technology evolves at pace, cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated. For UK SMEs, this means they must now defend against the same highly complex threats as large enterprises, but without the corresponding resources, expertise, or budget. BT protects more businesses than any other network, so we understand the level of threat they face—and because cyber threats don't scale with company size, neither should the protection we offer our customers. That's why we're providing new AI-driven solutions alongside a range of expert guidance and support, giving UK small businesses enterprise-grade security." Jonathon Ellison, National Resilience Director at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), said: "The cyber threats facing UK organisations are increasing, and small businesses are certainly not immune to attacks and their potentially devastating consequences. Alongside providers like BT, we are working tirelessly to ensure every organisation has the tools needed to implement the fundamentals of cybersecurity consistently and comprehensively. It is vital that SME owners take action to protect themselves and manage the cyber risks they face."
