en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has completed infrastructure and passenger convenience upgrades at seven stations, part of a multi-decade system improvement plan launched in 2021 with a $1 billion investment.

According to MARTA officials, the upgraded stations include Brookhaven, College Park, Five Points, Garnett, Indian Creek, Peachtree Center, Vine City, and Airport. Work is still underway at Arts Center, Bankhead, East Lake, H.E. Holmes, and Lenox stations.

General renovation work includes new flooring, anti-graffiti wall coatings, lighting upgrades, deep cleaning, new operator booths and restrooms, landscaping, and passenger amenities. Structural improvements include pedestrian bridges at East Lake and Indian Creek stations, as well as new elevators at Airport and East Lake stations.

Jonathan Hunt, MARTA's Interim General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, stated that the core goal of the system-wide station renovation plan is to create safer, cleaner rail stations and provide more reliable service for customers. He noted that MARTA and its construction partners are accelerating these upgrades ahead of the World Cup, and that the improved service and experience will continue to benefit customers and the Atlanta region long after the crowds have dispersed.

Atlanta will host FIFA World Cup matches from June 15 to July 15, during which construction will be suspended.
