en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, China Chemical Engineering Wuhuan Company signed an engineering design contract with Hubei Xiangyun (Group) Chemical Co., Ltd. and Tianjin Cement Industry Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. to jointly advance the Hubei Xinxiangyun 2 million tons/year phosphogypsum-to-sulfuric acid project with cement clinker byproduct. Upon completion, the project will process 2 million tons of phosphogypsum annually, producing 800,000 tons of sulfuric acid and 1 million tons of cement clinker as a byproduct.

Located in the Makou Chemical Industrial Park in Huanggang City, the project covers phosphogypsum pretreatment, phosphogypsum calcination, flue gas acid production units, and supporting utility facilities. It adopts the "phosphogypsum-sulfuric acid-cement clinker" recycling technology route, integrating advanced processes such as suspension calcination, central tube converter, and low-temperature waste heat recovery. Through high-temperature decomposition, phosphogypsum is converted into sulfuric acid and cement clinker, achieving a sulfur recovery rate of over 98%. For every ton of sulfuric acid and ton of cement clinker produced, more than 2 tons of phosphogypsum are consumed, demonstrating outstanding absorption capacity. The project is expected to effectively address the challenge of phosphogypsum stockpiling and alleviate environmental pressure on the Yangtze River ecosystem.

Wuhuan Company stated that it will continue to conduct technological research and promote the transition of more phosphogypsum comprehensive utilization technologies from the "laboratory" to the "production line."
