en.Wedoany.com Reported - SolarEdge has launched the CSS-OD commercial battery system in Italy, with a capacity of 197 kWh, targeting medium to large commercial and industrial solar installations, scalable up to 4 MWh per site.
The CSS-OD system is now available for indoor and outdoor commercial and industrial installations, pairing a 197 kWh battery cabinet with one or two 50 kW inverters. Each site configuration can be scaled to 1 MW of power and 4 MWh of storage capacity.
This launch expands SolarEdge's commercial storage portfolio, following the introduction of the 102.4 kWh CSS-OD variant in late 2024. The larger capacity addresses the growing demand for higher storage capacity in the commercial and industrial sector, where solar and storage integration is increasingly linked to consumption management, peak demand control, and grid interaction.
SolarEdge stated that expected applications include self-consumption maximization, peak shaving, energy tariff optimization, and grid injection and extraction limit management, features the company says are particularly relevant for energy-intensive industrial and commercial users or those with variable consumption patterns.
Giuliano Orzan, Country Manager for SolarEdge Italy, noted that interest in commercial storage is also driven by the evolution of the Italian market, citing dynamic tariffs, peak shaving, and grid flexibility as areas where storage use cases are expanding.
SolarEdge stated that the system is designed to meet high safety and cybersecurity standards, with simplified installation and commissioning procedures. The announcement did not disclose cell chemistry, depth of discharge, round-trip efficiency, or warranty terms.
