en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Bangladesh government plans to extend primary healthcare services to people's doorsteps through locally manufactured electric ambulances. This decision was made at a meeting held at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu) stated that the government is working to ensure ambulance services reach people's doorsteps, and the meeting discussed this matter in detail and made decisions.

Shiplu said the project will first be launched as a pilot in a selected upazila. If the pilot is successful, the initiative will help meet the country's ambulance needs and reduce dependence on imports.

According to information from the Prime Minister's Press Wing, the government plans to provide three levels of ambulance services, correspondingly building three different types of ambulances: for transfers from villages to upazilas, from upazilas to districts, and from districts to the capital. The meeting believed that after the implementation of this initiative, the country's import dependence in the ambulance sector will decrease, and it will be possible to provide ambulances with modern facilities at a relatively lower cost while improving the emergency patient transfer system.

Experts informed the meeting that necessary medical equipment, oxygen support, and various emergency service facilities will be added to the ambulances planned for local manufacturing. The vehicle design will fully consider Bangladesh's geographical conditions and road network.

Those present at the meeting included: Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Husain, State Minister MA Muhit, Prime Minister's Special Assistant for Health Affairs SM Ziauddin Hyder, Health Services Division Secretary Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, and from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Professor Md Ehsan, Professor Ziaur Rahman, Md Abdus Salam Akanda, and Jahangir Alam, among others.
