en.Wedoany.com Reported - Wing Aviation and Walmart have announced a major expansion of their drone delivery partnership, adding seven new metropolitan areas to Walmart's growing delivery network.
The new delivery markets include Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.
Walmart previously announced plans to build a drone delivery network spanning more than 270 locations to reach over 40 million Americans by 2027. This expanded regional plan will now bring the combined delivery footprint of Wing and Walmart to nearly 20 markets across the United States. The two companies say they have completed over 1 million commercial deliveries together to date.
"Our work with Walmart shows that drone delivery is not a novelty, but a service many customers rely on multiple times a week," said Heather Rivera, Chief Commercial Officer at Wing. "We've already begun working in many communities across the seven new markets to accelerate progress and bring ultra-fast delivery to 40 million residents nationwide."
Wing says the expansion is a direct response to the evolving needs of Walmart shoppers, who want last-minute groceries, electronics, and household essentials delivered to their doorstep within minutes. Wing's drones can fly at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour and use a tether to lower packages to customers' yards or driveways in as fast as 30 minutes.
Before launching in each new city, Wing and Walmart will work closely with local communities to share more information about Wing's delivery system, which is designed to serve single-family homes, apartment buildings, and commercial delivery zones within the community.
This latest phase builds on Wing's previous announcements in Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and Miami. The Alphabet subsidiary has been operating delivery services in Dallas since December 2024 and in Atlanta since December 2025.
Once drone delivery is available, customers within range will see the option in the Walmart app or website based on the address associated with their account. Customers can also order deliveries directly through the Wing app.
Walmart also partners with multiple drone providers. Last year, Zipline launched its first P2 drone site at Walmart stores in Mesquite and Waxahachie, Texas.
