en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Clean Technology Institute (ITL) launched the second open innovation call under the framework of Exponor 2026, aiming to identify existing technological capabilities and solutions under development in the fields of mining, water resources, energy transition, and low-footprint lithium.

ITL Executive Director Patricio Aguilera revealed at the event that the first call selected eight projects from 48 registered initiatives. He stated that the overall goal is to gather information on capabilities and technological solutions, seeking not only possible solutions but also partners willing to jointly develop capabilities with ITL.

This call focuses on the following challenges: optimizing flotation and leaching to reduce mining waste and inputs; resource utilization of industrial wastewater; mitigation of large-area evaporation losses; energy efficiency and monitoring of transportation and pressurization systems; and intelligent water management and real-time decision-making. Challenges in the energy sector include providing circular economy solutions for waste from solar and wind power plants, as well as sustainable and resilient energy supply for remote industries. In the lithium sector, it involves the research and development of cathode and anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

Project evaluation criteria include: project relevance, unique and measurable solutions, creation of technical and professional capabilities within ITL, technological maturity and scalability, local human capital development, team strength, economic and financial feasibility, co-financing conditions, integration of the mining-energy value chain, emerging fields driving local economic development, intellectual property, alignment with ITL's cross-cutting challenges, and the collaborative nature of the project.

ITL partners and external legal entities can participate, including domestic and international companies, technology-based enterprises (EBTs), startups, scale-ups, R&D centers, and universities. ITL stated that on June 15 this year, details will be published and applications will open on the website www.itlchile.com, with the application deadline set for July 31 this year.
