en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cheniere Energy announced that the sixth mid-scale train at its Corpus Christi liquefied natural gas (LNG) expansion project in Texas has been safely completed ahead of schedule. Cheniere Energy stated that, like the previous five trains, the sixth train was also delivered safely and ahead of time, helping to supply critical energy to global markets.

Cheniere completes sixth train at Corpus Christi expansion project

Cheniere Energy said it is currently working closely with engineering, procurement, and construction contractor Bechtel, and expects to complete all seven trains later this year, with the project's annual capacity exceeding 10 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). The first liquefaction train of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 expansion project achieved substantial completion in March 2025, followed by the second, third, fourth, and fifth trains in August, October, December of the same year, and March of this year, respectively.

Currently, Cheniere Energy and Bechtel are advancing the second expansion project at Corpus Christi, namely the CCL mid-scale Trains 8 and 9 project. This project, along with anticipated debottlenecking optimization opportunities, is expected to add approximately 5 mtpa of capacity to the facility by the end of 2028.

Upon completion of these projects, the total capacity of the Corpus Christi liquefaction facility (CCL) will exceed 30 mtpa, bringing Cheniere Energy's overall capacity to over 60 mtpa.

In addition to the existing expansion projects, Cheniere Energy has received approval from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to initiate the environmental pre-filing process for the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Stage 4 project. The peak capacity of this stage's trains will be approximately 24 mtpa of LNG.
