en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Internet Exchange of India has played a significant role in promoting participation in global internet governance discussions and advancing the construction of a secure and inclusive Digital India, senior government officials said at a recent event.

S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, stated at NIXI's 23rd Foundation Day event in New Delhi that as digital technology becomes deeply integrated into daily life, building trust, resilience, and security across the entire internet ecosystem has become increasingly important. He noted that NIXI has strengthened India's internet infrastructure while effectively enhancing India's participation in global internet governance discussions.

Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary of MeitY, said that NIXI has made significant contributions to building a faster, safer, and more inclusive Digital India by promoting domestic internet traffic exchange, encouraging the adoption of .in domains, reducing domain name system abuse cases, and promoting multilingual internet access. Pal pointed out that India is on track to become a leading digital economy, with research projects estimating that the digital economy will contribute nearly one-fifth of India's GDP within the next four to five years.

During the event, officials launched four new initiatives—the IX Portal, myIRINN Portal, .IN Auction Portal, and an AI-powered WHOIS Screening Platform. These initiatives aim to enhance user experience, improve operational efficiency, increase transparency, and strengthen monitoring and verification processes within India's internet ecosystem. MeitY stated in a release that the AI-powered WHOIS Screening Platform will strengthen domain security and improve the detection of suspicious websites, thereby reinforcing India's .in domain space.

Devesh Tyagi, CEO of NIXI, said that the next phase of the Indian internet will depend on trust, innovation, and ensuring participation from people across all regions of the country. He emphasized that NIXI will continue to work towards building an internet ecosystem that supports innovation, encourages collaboration, and creates lasting value for the nation. Currently, NIXI manages over 3.9 million .in domains, operates 79 internet exchange points nationwide, and supports domain registration in 22 Indian languages.
