en.Wedoany.com Reported - Firstcolo has officially commenced construction of the FRA7 data center in Rosbach vor der Höhe, near Frankfurt, Germany. The facility, designed with a capacity of 24 megawatts (MW) and covering 11,555 square meters (124,360 square feet), will primarily support cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing workloads.

The project budget is approximately €250 million (around $290 million), with commercial operations expected to begin in early 2027.

Jerome Evans, founder and CEO of Firstcolo, stated that the groundbreaking of FRA7 marks a significant milestone in his career, especially as international expectations grow for Germany to leverage AI to enhance its industrial competitiveness.

Evans noted that the center is the flagship project of a €1 billion ($1.15 billion) investment strategy aimed at establishing Firstcolo as one of Germany's leading colocation service providers.

The site was chosen in Rosbach rather than nearby Frankfurt primarily due to better grid access. FRA7 will be fully powered by renewable energy, is expected to directly create approximately 25 jobs in its initial operational phase, and will provide free waste heat to the surrounding community for a period of 20 years.

Founded in 2006, Firstcolo currently operates two Tier III data centers in Frankfurt. This new project marks the company's expansion beyond Frankfurt's highly concentrated data center market.

In May of this year, the company received the German Datacenter Talents & Impact Award 2025 from the German Data Center Association for its commitment to sustainable design.
