Under the cooperation plan, Nigerian export goods will gain direct access to Kigali, Lusaka, and Harare, while improving connectivity to Nairobi and Johannesburg through RwandAir’s route network.

The initiative was officially launched with the inaugural operation of the Nigeria-East and Southern Africa Air Cargo Corridor. Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, stated that the corridor will provide Nigerian businesses with direct and affordable access to markets in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, while expanding options to Kenya and South Africa.

RwandAir stated that the partnership will enhance regional connectivity, support intra-African trade, and advance the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Oduwole expressed gratitude to Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, the Nigeria Customs Service, and other partner agencies for their support in launching the corridor. She added that under the "Renewed Hope Agenda," Nigerian-made products are helping to drive trade, exports, and shared prosperity.
